WIRE & CABLE > BACKGROUND/HISTORY
General Background Scott Office Systems Canada (formerly KT industries) was founded in 1968 to produce tapes for the wire and cable industry. Through the years we've lead the way with innovations including specialty substrates and printing developments. Today Scott is an international company with global manufacturing. Since acquiring KT in early 2005, Scott has brought new perspectives and synergies to this industry, allowing us to once again be a leading innovator, while reducing the cost to produce standard products.
With worldwide growth in infrastructure and communications, the market is growing for power, plenum, co-axial (CATV), and fiber optic cables. As cables become more sophisticated, cable suppliers are looking for innovations that will protect and enhance the performance of their products.
We supply a wide range of tapes for shielding, wrapping cores, strengthening, and identification. For customers with their own tape products, we provide custom slitting and spooling services.
New Product Development By responding to and anticipating market needs, our R&D group has developed many unique products for our customers.
Flexibility in product and package design With in-house capability to color print, coat, and laminate, Scott can process a wide variety of substrates and design tapes to meet specific performance requirements. Scott uses both gravure and letterpress printing processes for high definition reproduction on marker and identification tapes.
We have the flexibility to deliver material in single-width pancake rolls or long length Step-Pac® spools.
